Armed Forces Shootout

The Armed Forces Shootout is an annual sportfishing tournament dedicated to honoring and supporting U.S. military personnel. The 3rd annual event is scheduled for May 8–10, 2025, at the Abaco Beach Resort in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas.

Founded by Capt. Cory Gillespie of "Lunatico," the tournament's mission is to make a lasting impact on the lives of Armed Forces veterans. Over three days, participating sportfish teams host men and women from the U.S. Armed Forces, providing them with an unforgettable fishing experience.

The Armed Forces Shootout is more than just a fishing event; it's a celebration of service and a commitment to making a difference. Each year, teams donate their boats and crews to host Navy and Army special warfare operators, offering them a life-changing experience that extends beyond their stay at Abaco Beach Resort.

All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Bird's Eye View Project, an organization dedicated to preventing veteran suicide and improving public health. In 2024, the Armed Forces Shootout donated $24,800 to the project, contributing to its 7x Human Performance Project, which funds critical research with the Dallas Brain Institute to implement a holistic guide to preventing veteran suicide at a federal level.
