Charter Questions

Q. What are the charter hours?

Charter hours vary depending on the style of trip, destination, and targeted fishery. A standard full day charter typically operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Your specific charter hours will be confirmed before your trip.

Q. Do you offer half day charter rates?

No. Our fleet is available exclusively for full day charters. Guests are welcome to use the boat for fewer hours within the designated charter window, but the full day charter rate still applies.

Q. How many guests can the boat accommodate?

Most vessels can accommodate up to 6 guests in accordance with United States Coast Guard regulations. Select vessels measuring 80 feet or larger may accommodate eight to ten guests, depending on the vessel’s certification and operating location. Guest capacity will be confirmed before booking.

Q. What type of boats are available?

Most of the vessels in our program are privately owned, tournament level sportfishing boats that are not otherwise offered for public charter. These boats are designed for offshore fishing and full day use rather than a traditional cruising style yacht charter.

Q. HOW MANY CREW MEMBERS ARE ABOARD EACH BOAT?

Each charter includes a licensed captain and professional mate. Additional crew members may be onboard depending on the vessel and style of trip. Stewardess and private chef services are also available upon request.

Q. Do I need fishing experience?

No fishing experience is required. Our crews are experienced professionals, and each boat is fully outfitted for the targeted fishery. Guests may participate as much or as little as they would like throughout the day.

Q. Do you offer single day charters?

Yes. We primarily offer single day charters. Term charters may be accommodated on a selective basis, depending on the vessel, destination, and itinerary. Liveaboard accommodations are available on a very limited number of our boats.

Q. Are food and beverages included?

Food and beverages are supplied by the crew. Before your trip, we will send a preference form to learn what your group would like stocked onboard. Whether provisioning is included in the charter rate depends on the vessel and location. For example, our Palm Beach charters are offered at an all inclusive rate, with crew gratuity as the only additional cost. Any inclusions or additional expenses will be clearly outlined in your proposal.

Q. What additional expenses should I expect?

Expenses vary depending on the vessel, destination, and style of trip. Common expenses may include fuel, dockage, bait, food and beverages vessel relocation, and crew gratuity.Your charter agreement will outline the anticipated expenses for your specific trip.

Q. What is an APA?

An Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA, is collected before certain charters to cover estimated expenses. Any unused balance will be returned after the charter once the final expenses have been reconciled.

Q. How far in advance should I book?

Booking windows vary by vessel and depend on each boat’s private schedule and availability. On average, we can confirm charters up to 90 days in advance. We ask for at least one week’s notice whenever possible. Booking further in advance is preferred and provides the best opportunity for vessel availability.

Q. Do I need to sign a charter agreement?

Yes. A charter agreement is required to protect both the vessel owner and the charterer. The agreement will reflect the vessel, operating location, payment schedule, expenses, cancellation terms, and other details specific to your charter.

Q. How do you collect payment?

Wire transfer and ACH are our preferred payment methods. Credit card payments may be made through a secure online payment link and are subject to a 4% processing fee.

Q. Is crew gratuity included?

Crew gratuity is not included unless specifically stated on your contract. Gratuity is entirely at your discretion, with 15% to 20% of the charter fee being customary in the industry.

Q. What happens if the weather is unsafe?

The captain makes the final determination regarding weather and whether it is safe to operate the charter. If the captain cancels the trip due to unsafe conditions, the charter may be rescheduled in accordance with the terms of your charter agreement.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

Because each vessel is privately owned and reserved specifically for your dates, charter payments are generally nonrefundable if the charterer cancels. The amount retained will depend on when the cancellation occurs and which payments are due under the charter agreement. If the vessel is successfully booked by another charterer for the same dates, any applicable credit will be calculated according to the terms of the agreement.

Q. Are children allowed onboard?

Guests under 16 years old require prior written approval and must remain under the direct supervision of an adult charterer. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vessel, destination, weather conditions, and style of trip.

Q. What should I wear?

We recommend closed toe, nonmarking shoes, lightweight UPF clothing, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and waterproof lotion sunscreen. Spray sunscreen is not permitted onboard. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes.

Q. Are fish guaranteed?

No charter can guarantee a catch. Fishing conditions vary daily, but our crews use their experience, local knowledge, and professional tackle to give guests the best possible opportunity for a successful day on the water.
